Construction has started on a £7m Aldi supermarket in Longbridge, with the promise of 50 new jobs.
Workers and machinery were seen at the Bristol Road South development, with work under way on land next to the McDonald’s car park.

The site had stood for years and is now being changed as part of the project. Aldi has said the development represents a £7 million investment in Longbridge and could create up to 50 jobs.
Birmingham City Council approved plans for the supermarket in 2024, after residents had waited for the scheme to progress.
Aldi recently confirmed Longbridge is among the locations due to receive a store before the end of 2026, as part of its expansion programme.

Planning documents say the supermarket will have customer parking, electric vehicle charging points and cycle storage facilities.
The retailer said it would improve shopping choice for people and complement stores in Northfield and Kings Norton.
When consultation plans were first published, Aldi described the development as a chance to regenerate a site that had been unused for more than 20 years.
