A COMEDY legend has revealed his favourite Birmingham restaurant and has been recommending it to other celebrities.

The Traitors star Joe Lycett has no shortage of places to eat in his home city, but one Birmingham restaurant has enjoyed the comedian's support from the very beginning.

The comedian and TV presenter is a long-time fan of Zindiya Streatery & Bar, an Indian street food restaurant in Moseley, having made frequent trips to the venue after it first opened in 2017.

Situated at 21 Woodbridge Road, Zindiya specialises in Indian street food, with small plates, curries and cocktails among its offerings.

Lycett became a familiar customer in the restaurant's early days and, while he may not always eat in nowadays, he still regularly gets a takeaway.

Shivani Kenth, owner of Zindiya, told Birmingham Now: "He has always been a fan, and has supported us since day one."

She added: "He has been quite loyal to us.

"That loyalty means a lot to us."

And Lycett has not kept his fondness for the Moseley favourite a secret.

The comedian mentioned Zindiya during an appearance on the Off Menu podcast, hosted by Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

He even recommended the restaurant to singer Jessie Ware, who got a takeaway from the restaurant much to the owner's delight.

His relationship with the restaurant goes further than simply stopping by for dinner or ordering a takeaway.

Zindiya even provided the catering for the wedding of one of Lycett's friends.

And anyone hoping to eat like the Birmingham comedian knows exactly what to order.

Lycett's go-to meal is a soy tikka and samosa chaat.

Samosa chaat remains on Zindiya's food menu and consists of vegetable-filled pastry layered with chickpeas, sweet yoghurt, pomegranate seeds, mint and coriander chutney and crispy sev.

There's plenty beyond dinner, too.

Zindiya advertises an Afternoon Tea with a Twist, while its drinks selection includes cocktails, local beers and wines as well as Indian drinks such as Thums Up and Limca.

For those following Lycett's lead and getting their food at home, the restaurant also offers delivery and collection.

Zindiya is currently open from 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from midday on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, according to its website.

Nearly a decade after Lycett first began visiting, his continued takeaways and public recommendations have made him one of the restaurant's most recognisable supporters.

For owner Shivani, however, it is that continued loyalty which means the most.
